The Post Christmas Detox
It's been a week since my last post and so much has happened. Jenna and I caught Evan and Owen's cold right about Christmas Eve. I soldiered on, as usual. Christmas Eve services at church were nice again this year with the kids participating in the re-enactment of the Nativity scene. This is definately Evan's last year to play a Wise Man, not only because he'll be too old for it next year...but the "wise" part is going to his head. It was nice to come home to a big pot of chili and cornbread for dinner that night. Nothing clears the sinuses like a pot of something with cumin and chili powder! Christmas morning brought big smiles and surprises for everyone. Evan is enjoying his new digital video camera - could he be the next Steven Spielberg? Jenna's sewing machine has her conjuring up images of "Project Runway." Owen is all about his new dinosaur and Batman toys. As if Christmas Day were not enough for the five of us, we got to do it all over again with Kevin's side of the family the very next day. And as if THAT weren't enough, we got to do it all over again the day after that with my side of the family. We have now opened the last of the gifts...finally...and if I don't eat another Christmas cookie for another 11 months, I will be pleased as punch! Time for more fruits and veggies...without butter and cheese and other various sweet and goopy toppings. I realize we still have New Year's to get through. But we've never been real big on that holiday since Kevin almost always works then. I've got the traditional pork roast in the freezer to fix on New Year's Day to bring us supposed good luck in the new year. Okay, time to fix hot chocolate. The kids just came in from playing in the snow!
