And We're Off!

Our summer break from school is off to a raging start.  Dreading the onslaught of "I'm bored" from either or all of my three children, I find the end of the school year to be somewhat bittersweet.  I am thrilled for the end of homework and projects and packing lunches and spelling lists and all that is in a year of elementary school aged children.  I am also thrilled for the carefree days of summer, lounging at the pool, spontaneous trips to the Eskimo Queen and lazy evenings in the backyard filling water balloons.

Wait a minute...

We have yet to have a carefree day of summer.

Furthermore, we have yet to lounge at the pool since it has decided to rain cats and dogs and turn much too cold for any outdoor pool swimming.

Eskimo Queen?  I have some Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches in the freezer!

And the water balloons in the backyard?...I suppose we need to actually be home in order to accomplish that little luxury as well.

This week has been a whirlwind and it is only Wednesday evening.  How did all of these activities and appointments and obligations fall in the same week, the first week out of school, no less?!?!

Here's our week, beginning with Sunday morning and ending with Saturday evening.  Hope you can keep up.  I'm not so sure I can!

I take comfort in knowing that not every week this summer will be like this.  In fact, not another week will be anything at all like this.  And that is what is getting me through these crazy, frenzied days.  Although, I am haunted by the recurring existence of laundry.

Hey, at least I haven't heard "I'm bored." yet!
