The Scarecrow, the Artist and the Red-Eyed Tree Frog

Every year I swear I am going to buy the kids' Halloween costumes and every year, I end up making them, cursing it all the way. But, it really is worth it in the end. The kids love dressing up as something unique and different than all the other kids. Evan wanted to be a red-eyed tree frog and I went the cheap-0 route and didn't spring for the green sweat pants that I knew he would never wear again. Kind of like all of those bridesmaid dresses I paid for over the years that I never wore again! And he was still just as froggy without them. Jenna's artist outfit was equally easy. Mom had some spare red fleece and whipped together a little beret for her one Sunday afternoon. Splatter some paint on an over sized shirt and a paint palette made out of cardboard and she was set. Owen's scarecrow outfit took the most effort and planning, but really was not expensive or time-consuming to make either. He did complain that it was itchy. Which, let's face it...no one wants to be itchy. But when there's candy involved, you learn to be a little uncomfortable, right?! Another Halloween is in the books and now we move onto Turkey Day and then Christmas. Let the gluttony of this time of year begin. Gotta go...the UPS man just pulled up. I think he has a box for me from Amazon!
